I got this for free from a family member cleaning up their farm. I thought it was pretty neat and plan to restore it for use on my deck next to my other grills. I think those open burners will be great. I hope lol. It's a Griswold. Valves are nice and smooth in operation.

Was that like an early version of a hot plate? It just sits on a table like that? That is so cool!

It is a stand alone unit. I'll need to dig into any info about it. But I think it's awesome.

I have one like that but it’s not a Griswald. Picked mine up for $25.00 many years ago but haven’t used it yet, just cool to look at.

These are cool. I've looked at them for years, but never been tempted enough to get one. I contemplated something like this for my basement kitchen. All I really thought I needed was two or three burners for minimal cooking.
I'm sure these were a godsend for people when gas first got piped in. You no longer had to fire up your big cast iron wood or coal stove to make coffee, tea, or any other light cooking. These are so versatile, you can use them just about anywhere as long as you have a gas source or a bottle of gas. I'm sure these were meant for the home, but they surely were used in restaurants, concession stands, church & lodge kitchens. I'm sure a fire marshal would have a conniption over one in use today. I hear some call them camp stoves, but a real camp stove at least has a metal box around the burners. These may not be up to code, but for bare bones cooking, it's plenty.

I've got one in the basement that came w/the house, never hooked up in MY tenure here, and hasn't seen the light of day for @ LEAST fifty years I bet! I may drag it up later and post a pic... CHEERS! The guy I got my 61C from cooks on one of those and loves it. He said that with that and a Dutch oven he can cook anything he wants. He spent his career in real estate and to look at him you wouldn't know that he was quite well off. He built his house, a large cabin really, out of recycled material and on a mountain overlooking Sacramento. The American river and the location of Sutter's mill where they discovered gold in California is on the east side of his property. This guy could pretty much have any stove he wants but said he just needed something to do a specific job and as long as it did that it was good enough. I've seen a couple of these burners for sale since seeing his but they've been out of my price range so am still watching, though not with bated breath.

I saw on TV some years ago a story about an old widow woman in England that lived up in her attic and did all her cooking on those small two-chamber kerosene stoves.

One came with my house. It stood on lady legs and was attached to a gas line in the laundry room. It was to boil laundry water in one of those big copper tubs.
