Well, one of our dogs had a vet appointment this morning, so Monkey got out the sewing machine last night, and made this for our Boston Terrier, Maeve: Needless to say, she was a HIT @ the vet's office. Dog & Cat Clinic, Leavenworth KS if you wanna look @ at their Facebook page. The nurses couldn't BELIEVE she'd leave it ON for them (Monkey had to remain in the car, they came & got the dog). They have NO CLUE that Monkey dresses all THREE of them up for a Christmas picture, and they have FINALLY learned over the years to just sit patiently through it, and Monkey will EVENTUALLY remove their costumes! So Maeve took one for the team today. She does a better job of wearing a mask than I do for sure!! CHEERS! Chuckie

Chuckie Okay, 2 questions: 1) Has Maeve "accidentally" tripped either of you on the stairs in retribution yet? 2) How exactly do you pronounce the name Maeve? I've read a few of Maeve Binchy's books, but I was never sure how it was pronounced.

The THREE of them try to kill me D-A-I-L-Y by turning longways when I'm coming across the room full-bore (as USUAL, as dwayner can attest!) Méabh is the actual Irish spelling I believe. And the pronunciation is like "Mave" w/the "e" on the tail--think of saying "save". "Save" w/an "M". This is what we call her (when NOT p.o.'d @ her---which is RARELY!!! LOL)
However, SOME parts of Ireland almost pronounce it like the American Indian word for corn--Maize. Other parts of Ireland (think of American dialects) pronounce it like "eve" w/an "M" in front. Methinks ANY variation would pretty much suffice in old Erin...
CHEERS! Chuckie

I’d say Maeve is the annoying one always wanting attention and climbing in your lap. Jasper can do some damage but is quite and doesn’t get too excited about much. Now Fin is the laid back one and is rarely annoying. They definitely each have their own personalities that’s for sure.
As for tripping you on the stairs, ain’t gunna happen. When you go down to the basement they just stick their head around the door opening and stare, don’t even step into the loft at the top. Guess they saw Chuckie setting a trap for me years ago to lock me in the basement until the Imperial was finished. If you put a few LED shop lights, a fridge and a bar, it would be cool down there with the coon, baby rabbit and the snake. You should turn it into a Speakeasy while the bars are closed and call it ‘The Slivering Bandit Bar’. 🤪👍

I just noticed your very flattering new avatar, Dwayner. Is there a story behind that?

Not really Nana. That’s Bill the Cat and I’ve always loved that picture. It symbolizes me right after I wake up in the morning and then again before bed after a long day. I guess I feel like I can relate to whatever that poor cat went thru to arrive in such a tattered state.

I'm glad my mentally saying it like 'save' wasn't too far off! All of our animals have perfected the "suddenly turn cross-wise in their path" move. And then they are highly offended when we trip over them. They need to realize that if we are incapacitated, they won't be getting any food!

I have two “black” cats, in quotes because one is deep brown and the other is gray striped if you see them in the bright sun. In the dark, however, they are both invisible and use this attribute to lurk unseen under and around your feet so they can scream bloody murder when you step on their tail. It happens too often to be an accident!
