www.amazon.com/Dawn-Platinum-Powerwash-Starter-Bundle/dp/B082DLGV3FYou all may have seen the commercials for this on TV so I purchased some and ran some tests last night on some stove parts. Just like the old Dawn Power Dissolver (Dawn PD) this stuff looks to be safe on porcelain, aluminum, brass, chrome and the fancy dials and logos. I applied several coats on each part last night and let them sit until this morning with no bad effects. It doesn't look or act much like the old stuff but the results are pretty darn good. The new stuff is thinner than the old Dawn PD and has a different spray method but the main thing is that it works "almost" as fast and good as the original Dawn PD AND... it's safe on aluminum. The old Dawn PD is hard to find on line and cost a fortune unless you buy a case, comes out to about $13.00/32 oz. This new stuff costs about $5.50/16 oz bottle so pretty close in cost. I still plan to keep the old stuff around but at least the new stuff is easy to find now.

Thanks Dwayner for checking that out. I've been wondering the exact same thing.

I'm going to have to check that out. I'm really pleased with their erasing dish foam too. We've been using it for 2 or 3 years now and it's really handy when you only have a few things to wash, plus it works great for cleaning up the stove. And nothing cleans my glasses better, even the cheap drugstore reading glasses I'm always getting covered in grease and crud. I get soot in the well and oven from the pilots running. Probably the cheap CENEX propane I buy lol. I use one of those sponges that has the non-scratching scrubby on one side and about every 3 months when I take my tanks in to be filled (I'm running two 100's) I just put some foam on the scrubby side, wipe down the inside of the well with the scrubby, wipe it out with a wet dishcloth, and it's done. I tried doing it with dishwater when I was washing stuff by hand and it didn't work very well. When I get propane I shut the gas valves, first at the stove and then the outside valve where the line goes under the house. That way my line stays pressurized while I have the tanks removed, which prevents leaks from developing around fitting threads and so on. When I get back with the tanks and reinstall them I turn the tanks back on and then the outside valve but before I turn the inside valve on and relight the pilots I do the cleaning while the stove is cool. It's a system that works well but when we install the 500 gallon tank we're planning to buy it'll mess up my system. If I'm not forced to shut the stove down to get the tanks filled I don't know how disciplined I'll be about doing the deep cleaning every few months. And it seems like there's always something more important out there too. Like broken toilet handles or a car acting up. Yesterday it was a freezer alarm. Turns out a package had fallen and was holding the door open just enough to keep the door from sealing but we had to move everything to the other freezers to get the inside dried out and all of that. All while I'm stumbling around like a drunk because of the vestibular nerves not being all the way healed after my surgery. So far today is quiet and that really scares me...

Do you think this would work on the inside of my broiler box which has gotten (ahem) a little bit crusty around the edges?
And by crusty I mean a rim of black burnt on grease. Forgive me, for I have sinned. ☹️😳😳😳😳😔

For $5.50 I think you should try it and report back! : -)

I don’t know if it will take off the baked on black crud completely (but neither will the old stuff) but it will help. Try scraping off the black stuff with a knife or razor between applications and that will help.

It never really left but it used to be in all the stores for much cheaper some years back. Now you get it only on line for exorbitant prices. If you order a case of six and get it for around $12/32 oz bottle that’s a good deal, but 6 bottles is a lot. You could pass on the extra bottles to others as long as you don’t tell the PO what your shipping. 😃👍

Another great one I stumbled across is Bar Keepers Friend Spray and Foam. I spent several days off and on tracing down and electrical problem with the power to the range hood in our new to us motorhome (found the short about an hour ago!) and when I took the range hood down it was a grungy mess so I brought it in and started cleaning it with the BKF Foam and ran out. I guess I've been using it more than I thought. Range hoods can be challenging but that stuff was taking the grease right off.
