It looks like a samovar for the Tsar! Really pretty. I think it's worth the $200, but too rich for my blood, for sure, though.
Actually, if you google "samovar" you'll see some stuff that will make your eyeballs pop out. The Tsar would consider this his camping samovar, at best. Yowza!

You guys are bad. I need to stop looking at copper stuff that goes with my stove. That is so beautiful, but too much for me and do I need another M-B percoaltor, although my other two are electric. Hmmm.

I don't know if you realize it, but this was most likely silver plated originally. I've seen this kind of item before that have been excessively polish. Status items like a samovar would not have been copper unless it was plated. They would have been either solid silver, or silver plated. Even lower priced ones would have been nickel plated. I'll bet it's marked silver plated on the bottom.

I have been informed on the other site, "Manning & Bowman offered tableware in many different finishes, one of which was tin lined copper with English pewter decorations." So I stand corrected.

I thought it would take some pretty over-exacting AND over zealous polishing to remove all the silver except for the trim, but honestly Pooka, such is my respect for you that I wasn't going to say anything. And I think I may have mentioned at one time a family friend that scrubbed all the teflon off a new pan because she thought the black color was something she did wrong, so over-polishers like that do exist! This percolator is one of those "when I win the lottery" things for most of us, though, I suspect.
