'Tis CHIEFS season again, and we all take snacks to our local gin mill (Ten Penny) to share whilst watching. Monkey stumbled across this one, and OMG, am it G-O-O-D!!! In fact, I HIGHLY SUGGESTED she make another batch to take along (each makes two cookie sheets this full), as we'd EATEN about a dozen betwixt us!) And it only rests 10 minutes, so you're not waiting an hour or two for the dough to rise. And they're not hard when finished--they stay like soft pretzels. They bake @ 450 degrees, so was first "real test" of dwayner's thermostat, and it did NOT disappoint!!! Here's the recipe--in two pictures--I believe it was from "Taste of Home", but not sure: And here's the finished product:CHEERS! Chuckie UPDATE: they were a BIG HIT--good thing we made DOUBLES!!! Will post a mustard dip Monkey found as well...

I saw this on the other site a little while ago, but damn, they still look fine to me!
Instead of cheese sauce, I would just dunk them in melted butter like lobster chunks. Glory!

It's unfortunate that you have to, but I'm sure they're grateful. I've picked up hints of some kind of dust-up through reading old threads on this and that. I don't know what all that was about, but I do know that to err is human, and it's good to let bygones be bygones. I think life is too short to hold grudges.
Unless you let my daughter sit through a whole track meet with a broken arm and not even get her an ice pack, let alone try to call me, and then make the bus stop at McDonalds so you can get a Big Mac, where the bus driver got her some ice and finally called me. It's been 16 years and I'm still not over it Mr. Carr, and your time is gonna come.

As best I've been able to gather, it all started from conflicted political views that were voiced & escalated to insults & the webmaster changing & deleting post he didn't like or agree with. It escalated further by people jumping ship & deleting all their posts making many threads disjointed nonsense. More members were kicked out as treasonous toward the webmaster. They formed this commune in response.
It was a war of words over bruised egos & hurt feelings. No one was actually injured. Fast friends became sworn enemies. The rift remains. I've counseled for peace, but to no avail. There are those on both sides that refuse to reconcile making us all suffer for their obstinance. To Todd, anyone from this site is Satan incarnate. I would expect better of a Christian minister that he is. I pity him for his stubborn pigheadedness. I can't bring myself to hate him. In recent years, life has handed him tragedies I wouldn't wish on anyone. Some might say it's bad karma coming home to roost. But he is a human like all the rest of us. We all have our own foibles that we battle everyday. He has worn his as a badge of courage against his perceived enemies. I see him as just a sad case of sour grapes that I hope he repents.
Hope springs eternal for me. It's a hard view to foster, but I keep trying. I refuse to add fuel to the fire that others want to feed. Perhaps I've already said too much. There are those in this world who live to hate no mater what. I refuse to joint their camp. I'd rather stand alone as a lone maverick on neutral ground. There are worse thing in life than being alone.

It's too bad. There is so much we all can learn from one another, about stoves and other things too. I joined this site first, and then the other one after, and slowly came to the realization that there was a rift. It is a little like the Hatfields and McCoys, in a way. Silly. And what unites us is the love of these wonderful stoves. You'd think that that would overcome any hard feelings.
I have a friend who was going through a hard time at work once, with people making accusations and taking sides. She told me all was well, because if you conduct yourself with integrity, nothing can stand against you. And she was right. She's still there, and the people who were causing all the trouble are gone. Which isn't to say you'll never make mistakes. We all do, but the thing to do is 'fess up, apologize, learn from them, and move on. That's a lesson the politicians need to keep learning over and over and somehow it never sinks in.
When someone has different opinions than mine, even if I feel absolutely sure that I'm right, I try to remind myself that there are always at least two sides to a story, if not more, and very few things are entirely black or white. A lot depends on your perspective and personal experience.
