I made these the other night for the first time. If your favorite part of a grilled cheese sandwich is the stuff that leaks out and gets brown and crispy in the pan, then you will absolutely love these! Put those neglected cookie guns to work! I was going to type it out, but then I got lazy. I hope this comes out right side up and is readable! BIG HINT to save you heartache and tears-- bring BOTH the butter AND the cheese to room temperature before mixing! Also I upped the spice quotient just a tad and used smoked paprika. These were gone in a flash. We get a little competitive at our little pot lucks at school--I won this round!

Sometimes it's the old recipes that are best rather than some new trendy snack. I remember when Sausageking was trying to sell his big 1930 model 4942. He showed a pic of the Autostat dial. It had a list of items as examples of what to cook at different temperatures. Cheese straws was one I'd never heard of. I had to look it up at the time. I believe there's a recipe in one of the cookbooks. I glad to hear they are such a hit at your event. I'm surprised some snack company hasn't put them out as the latest thing. It make me wonder how old this recipe is. It must have been well known in 1930 to be printed on the Autostat.

Pooka, I think the old recipes are best too. I had to laugh when I saw Lava Cake as a dessert trend at so many restaurants. I had the recipe from an old recipe booklet my Grandmother had collected. (She couldn't believe I was interested in "those old things" when I begged her for them after she moved to a smaller place.) My kids sat stunned in the booth and said, but mom, you have always made that.

Sounds like the cake I make in the crock pot... Hmmm, I wonder if it could be done in the thermowell....?

They use a really short, hot cooking time so the interior is melty and sort of explodes when one cuts into it. Think chicken Kiev, but with a cake. I think it could be easily adapted to the Tbaker, but maybe not CWTGTO. There's a wonderful chocolate Tbaker cake recipe, but it may be on the Rangers site. It's probably your crock pot recipe the thread started with a crockpot baking implement. I'll see if I can find the link. It was a super popular thread a couple of years ago Here it is. It was hard to find as it's not under the recipe section. chambersrangers.proboards.com/thread/3312/awesome-cake-qt-pot-amazing

Nana, the lava cake is TOTALLY indulgent (and probably terrible for the hips), but soooooooh worth it. We only make it once every year or two, because it is so rich, but when it comes to the table everyone's eyes light up.

Is there any way you could repost the chocolate cake recipe here vaporvac? Some of us aren't on the other site and can't access it.

I'll try. There were tons of hints and variations in the post, but I understand and forget the issues. that's why I always try to remember to post both places.
