Just had to share this with you all, Got this a few weeks ago, on CL and thought it was the most clever thing I had seen in a long time. Great for small apts. These were made by Saginaw Furniture(MI) from the 1940's to the 60's or so. This one is extremely heavy , and looks to be from the 60's. Have seen some others that are larger and the chairs stow in the cabinet too. Some are very nice wood and styling, this was a plain style. I took these before I scrubbed it up and covered the chips. The leaves fold and store in the cabinet so you can extent the table to what ever size you need. There is also a silverware drawer and room for dishes on the right side. Only three of the six leaves are in. It will be nice to have when I have a crowd to feed. And the price was right...free!

That is so cool! How big is it when fully extended?

That's a cool & ingenious table. I've seen a few of these in my searches for fold down or up tables, or any other type of table that can convert to something else to save space in my small kitchen. I ran across a shop called "Tomkiel Custom Cabinetry" that makes a unit just like yours. I guess they're copying "Saginaw Furniture's" design. The one they show on they're website expands up to twelve feet with seven leaves of twenty inch's each. www.tomkielcc.com/Expandable%20Table/ExpandableTable.htmlHere's a couple of other novel options I've run across. This first one folds down out of a tall cabinet like a "Murphy Bed". This one is a small cabinet that the two door fold up to serve as a table. I think it's English because the file is marked with a price of £85.
