This was in this month's Irish America Magazine. I made it on Tuesday for a party last night, and it was a HIT!! It DOES make a LARGE batch--I put ours in a two gallon crock, and it was maybe 3" from the top!
CHEERS! Chuckie
IRISH EGGNOG (Irish America Magazine Dec. ’12)
*2 quarts whole milk *1 quart cream *1 cup sugar *1 dozen eggs *1 quart bourbon (Irish whiskey!) *1/2 pint Brandy *1 pint dark rum *nutmeg to taste
Separate eggs; beat yolks, add sugar; whisk together VERY WELL. Slowly drizzle whiskey into egg mixture, whisking constantly. Slowly add rum, then brandy. Add milk & cream. Beat egg whites until stiff but NOT dry. Fold egg whites into liquid mixture.
Refrigerate several days or @ least overnight to ripen (I made ours Tuesday b4 our Friday party). Stir before serving to recombine ingredients. Serve w/a sprinkling of nutmeg on top.
NOTE: this recipe calls for raw eggs, which not everyone can eat (methinks all the hooch makes them safe!). The quantities specified make eggnog for a crowd. Recipe can be halved.

Mmmmm! Sporko makes a similar 'nog every year for Christmas. It is potent and delicious. Now that I'm thinking about it, I believe I will go have some now! <hic!>
