I was reading through some recipes, and began to wonder what happens to some members? One gal had like 277 posts(!), and then, last login in '08. Do these folks die, or what? I mean, with THAT many posts, they must've been pretty 'into' their Chambers. Lotsa karma too.
Things that make you say "hmmmmmmmmm", I guess....

I figure they got another life. Sometime feel like I have the secret stove life,"As the Gas Valve Turns" ......and the other one.

Also, if some dropped from sight at the end of '08, the economic collapse might have changed their priorities.

I think for some it can be a compulsion and/or addiction. I know for me, it appeals to my compulsive & practical sides. I can be mesmerized by a particular thing or subject that draws me to intensely research it out of practical & curiosity sake. I did that with my bathroom. It needs work but, it has to suit me for aesthetic as well as practical purposes. I was consumed in searching for the perfect pieces to redoing it. Once I decided on what I wanted it was just a mater of finding or making what I needed. I can be a very patient looking & waiting for just the right deal. But sometimes I act compulsively. It's all about choosing different doors in life & seeing where they lead. I've done it with furniture. Finding just the right piece for a certain place or need. I did that looking for a free standing cabinet for my kitchen. I searched high & low not finding the right one. I finally built my own out of free lumber I had collected. I've had four or five different tables in my kitchen trying to find just the right one. I hope chambers stoves aren't just a passing fancy for me. If it is, that's OK. It's always fun to learn about a new thing that interests me. I add it to my book of knowledge that we all collect. Some of us just collect different amounts of different things. It's what can make for an interesting life. Some of us get over our addictions. Some of us live with them as long as we can moderate them & their not destructive. Some of us just change our addictions. That's one of the things that makes life interesting. If nothing ever changed, Life would be boring. Greg

Well, I've been one of those members since the beginning. The very beginning here, and near the beginning of the other board. I can't speak for anyone else in particular, but I do have a few insights.
In my case, I caught the bug, got seriously interested in the product and craft of the Chambers range and got to be something of an expert pretty quickly when I cracked into the job of restoring four stoves at once. The result was nearly 2000 combined posts on both boards over 3 years or so.
But you've all seen very little of me in the last year or so as we finally closed on the new old house and I've been spending all my time doing the renovation work there. So life intervenes. But at least in my case, I never really went away. I just got majorly side tracked and now I'm back.
At the same time, lots of people who come on the boards tend to really obsess for a time and then more or less burn out. The happens all the time in all kinds of groups. That dynamic was compounded at the time this board started up as there were a lot of us who were really obsessing the same way at the same time and it seeded a lot of friendships. And there was a big split and personality conflicts between admins on both boards, which was really painful for a lot of folks, but all the conversations around that made for a lot of activity on both boards for months. (And burned several folks out, too, of course.)
That's the nutshell version, but it will explain why some folks were really active in 2007/2008 and seem to be gone now. Pretty much any discussion group on any topic has a similar arc if it's been around long enough.

Same, I came from "the other" board as well and have been around a long time. I still check the forums, but rarely post as I have nothing to provide input wise. I do still try to hit chat night for a few minutes. I think some peeps just move on in life undeliberatly. I know sometime it'll be weeks that I don't check the forums, then suddenly remember I haven't been here in a while. Life has a funny way of getting in the way of life The other alternative is they died. Piper, can you please email me? I have something to discuss about your web hosting

Haven't posted in a while, but can explain. New job with larger time commitment and four kids six and under. I do stop by and read a few psots once in a while, and plan to do my restoration someday. I just need to finish the basement remodel and move the laundry room downstairs.
Oh, and the girl in the pictur is now in Kindergarten and has four year old twin sisters and a two year old brother.

fschimmel, yours WAS another name that I noticed when reading old posts that more or less "vanished" about the same time. LOL, I'd say from the "head count" you posted that we know what you've been DOING whilst NOT on here!! Welcome 'back'! CHEERS! Chuckie

Most of us are still here. Life has taken me away from the computer, i.e. busy as hell & other commitments.
Doesn't mean I don't check in time to time. I enjoy seeing others pass along the knowledge that most of us started/learned/shared/mentored in the VERY beginning on the other two boards.
Do I still use and adore my Chambers?? Heck yeah, use it everyday. This gal is going to stop CWTGTO anytime soon. Plus, I'd be totally lost if I had to cook rice any other way than in the T-well! Perfect everytime! ;D
PS I still refer back to the Recipe Section all the time!!

I'm one of the members that "fell off" the board. I still love my chambers and talk it up to people that don't have one. Life got very hectic with lots of changes some very good, some not so good and some downright upsetting. I'm glad to see so many new members. Right now in the process of having my thermostat replaced in my baby and then I can start my baking again and post recipes.

Berlyn: YOU were my biggest inspiration to redo Isabelle. I mean the detailed pictures that you took of "Big Bertha". Several since you have taken more detailed ones, but yours were THEE only ones when I started, and what got me through taking Izzy apart and putting her back together. Since I could "see" what lay under the outer skin, I had the courage to tear into her full force! And I cannot BEGIN to mention all the names that talked me through stuff--the biggest one being Don Mattera, especially when I busted the broiler arm! It was your pix and a cast of THOUSANDS on here that got Izzy put back together again. Thanks for all the help! ;D
