No it won't blend...but you can shake it.
My brother the old-school bartender has a bartender's credo: "If I can't shake it, I can't make it."

Before I found this website my wife was looking for a new blender because her old one wasn't powerful enough. Dang thing had sixteen buttons on the front (Chop, Mix, Blend, Ice Crush, Frappe', etc.) and a microprocessor in the back, but it just didn't have enough gusto. So we donated it to Goodwill (perfectly good blender, less than a year old) and went to Fry's to buy a WARING blender, with a 1 horsepower motor, and just one crude metal toggle switch on the front (ON/OFF). This thing definitely blends. Unfortunately she threw away the box, so we can't return it. Now that she's seen the 2-horsepower BLENDTEC chop up a rake handle and a handful of golf balls, she's ready to buy.
Oh well, donations to Goodwill are tax deductible.

My favorite was when they blended the big metal crowbar.
