Would you mind reposting your own version here, Ms. V??
I think that the Oatmeal Goddess' own words would be more authentic. Plus, the recipe would then exist on our board, and wouldn't be subject to the continued existence of the Recipe Circus link. Thanks!!

I made the oatmeal lastnight and for the first time turned the gas on.....don't do it. you get a much better oatmeal without using the gas!

This is where some of the old recipes were collected and I found my old correct recipe www.ichef.com/clubs/203/ I have to click on it twice to make it come up in my browser. There is also a spinach recipe I put in, but my name was spelled incorrectly (Vichy insteac of Vicky)

McCann's Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal (made only from the whole grain of Irish Oats) I cut the recipe in 1/2: 1/2 cup oats Pinch of salt if you remember 2 C. boiling water 1. Around 9:30 to 10:00 p.m. (or earlier) -
2.
3. Butter lightly one of the Triple Thermowell Kettles. (-Now I don't butter the pan anymore)
4. To this kettle, add the oats, salt, & the boiling water.
5. Place lid on Thermowell kettle, fasten clamps, and place in Thermowell.
6. Allow to cook in the Thermowell all night (do not burn the gas - let the pilot light do the work!)
7. The next morning, your Irish Oatmeal will be hot and ready to eat!
8.
9. Notes:
10. Some mornings we use Maple Grove Farms Pure Maple Syrup.
11. No milk is needed because the oatmeal is so smooth.
12. You have lots of options - adjust to your taste.
13.
14. Thanks, Ms V!
