Some of you proably know that I am involved with the Great Dane Rescue of North Texas. In the past few months I've become MORE invloved. I'm now fundraising chair.
Here is a site that I've stumbled on that I thought I would share with all of you.
www.benevolink.com
Benevolink basically act as a donations clearing house. Many merchants pledge X% of their sales to charity. Signing up with Benevolink, YOU get to decide where that X% goes.
I had quite a few people that squawked at the concept, beleiving it to be a scam. Well, take a look at the participating retailers:
Starbucks
Old Navy
American Eagle Outfitters
Neiman Marcus
Eddie Bauer
FTD Florists
That's just a sample. But, it gives you an idea of the level of merchants who are affiliated with the program.
When you sign up, you are asked to register the credit card(s) you will be making purchases with. This is how they track your spending. Benevolink never charges you. Then you select your charity. You can select several and designated a percentage of your "earned" donations to each. Then you shop. Go to the merchant listing on Benevolink.com, select the store you want and you are direct to that merchant's web-site. You make your purchases through the merchant, not Benevolink.
The percentages are all different. One of my favorites is FTD. I send flowers for Mother's Day and a few other holidays. FTD donates 20% of your purchases! That's huge!
It's a pretty neat way to raise funds for your charity without over extending your wallet. And, if you don't have a favorite charity, feel free to select the Great Dane Rescue of North Texas![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)
