Why is there an advertisment following the first post of every thread?? It wasn't there before. just wondering Oh, is that what that empty box is that just started appearing! The adverts don't show up on Firefox under Linux--at least not in my installation. Actually, none of the ads show up. They do show up on other browsers I have on here. OOPS! Anyway, the ads are to pay for proboards. They host us for free so you get ads. You can pay them & get it ad-free, but I don't even notice them myself. . .even when I can see them ;D! I bet they decided putting some ads there would just make them more prominent & likely to be clicked on.

I'm seeing those ads on my Linux box. After awhile they just kinda blend into the woodwork. I think it's only something like $7 a year to banish them from the site entirely. Let's take up a collection...
Edit to add: now if it were only that easy to get rid of the trolls... ;D

I'm wondering if I adblocked them & just don't remember. It is always possible that I did something like that!

I'm using Camino on OS X, and it blocks ads by itself, so I've never noticed ads if they were there before (in some other location), but that blank box after the first post just started showing up today.

They ads have ALWAYS been here... but, yesterday they started showing up just below the original post of each thread. It's something Proboards did...it's doing that same thing on other boards.

I noticed the empty space below the first post, just like Tux, and the ads are blocked here, too. I'm on a Mac and using FireFox.

Ads? What ads?
I'm using a plain-vanilla PC with Internet Explorer 6.0. Maybe I've enabled ad-blocking with Norton and forgotten about it.
Did we have them on Chambers Rangers, too?

We always had them on the bottom. The ones after the first posting on each page of a thread are a new innovation.
Yes, I think my adblock plus extension on firefox is responsible for automatically blocking them. I didn't realize it did some automatically, as the older versions of that extension didn't do it that way. If you have firefox & don't have it, just go to Tools, Add-ons. When you get the pop up window there should be a 'get extensions' button on the bottom of the window. Click on that & you can find the adblocker extension, as well as tons of others from the hilarious to the imminently usable.

For any MacHeads using OS X out there who haven't given "Camino" a try, you owe it to yourself to give it a go. Built in ad blocking/popup blocking, and it's many degrees faster than Firefox. Built by MacHeads for MacHeads. The latest version has proven extremely sleek and dependable. Plus, they have a great forum where if you have a problem with it, you can talk to the people who work on it. I stopped keeping up with the Firefox updates after Camino came along. www.caminobrowser.org/

I have been annoyed by Firefox for so long and this is infinitely better.

My dad had an El Camino. When I was twenty something and really stupid I got it up to 125 mph one night. And even that wasn't as fast as it could go. Of course, I would never have driven that fast if it had had a Chambers in the back.

Yeah I'm a fan of the old muscle cars. The El Camino definitely cannot e considered a truck.
