all them applesauce-huffin'-free-thinkin'-bob-marley-listenin'-types went? Can we come in? Hey y'all...b.b. here, the other half of charbee51 from the "old board". After what happened with our last post on "the other board" a coupla days ago, and the rather paranoid reaction it received, we figured it was time to finally come over here and see if things were a little less...um...."constricted". We had dropped off the other board for awhile last month due to life happening, and came back to find it gutted, most of you people gone, and still really don't know what went on, and really, frankly don't wanna know. We just wanna be able to say 'hey' and post pictures or links without paranoiac over-reacting happenin' all over the place. Finally did find our Freedom Red 90C, thankyewverymuch...her name's Jezebel. Snagged her offa craigslist for $600, drove to Tyler and back in a uhaul to get her. Gonna need to take her down to the frame, lotsa rust, but she's a beee-yute! Got several months more of kitchen work to finish, gonna be workin' on the kitchen and the stove at the same time. Anyhow, figured we'd say howdy...and say we might be hanging out here more often.

That's a fine red stove you got there. If you ever decide you don't want it and need it hauled off, let me know. And welcome to the place where you can speak your mind about just about anything, including stoves.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! That is one hell of a Chambers (especially for the price!). Glad to see some more old friends drifting over this way. I seem to recall that everyone was encouraging charbee to sit tight, the right one would come along at the right price. Doesn't seem like it was even that long of a wait ;D Welcome aboard. Check out the new website too at www.vintagechambers.com when you get a chance. Kind of sparse at this point, but it hasn't even been alive for a month yet, and it already has some great resources.

Thank ye kindly, fellas...good to see y'all are all here! And yep, tux-sf, we really didn't have too long to wait...it came down to being the first to see the ad, and the first to call. Nice guy we got her from, too. Checked out the site, and it looks great...great idea to have links to peoples' resto photos available on the home page...that's one thing we're going to be checking out as we really get into taking her apart the rest of the way.
We've got more pics of Jezebel as she is, guess we'll put 'em in the pics thread. Thanks again, y'all!

Jezebel. . .fine name for a red Chambers. More restoration stories will be going up on the site shortly, as well as more literature, so stay tuned.

Many thanks again, ladies and gents. Char and I are looking forward to diving into putting Jezebel right...we were thrilled to have gotten her at a bargain, adding in all the truck rental, mileage and gas there and back, it pushed her "real" total up to just over $1,100...still a bargain to us. She's already mostly apart from the trip home, hi-back is off, sides off, all the loose parts off. Looks to us like she spent some time being stored outside (hence all the rust inside) but we're hoping that whatever rust is there we'll be able to tackle. We'll be trying out a small hand buffer and whatever the appropriate polishing compound is on the chrome top, and hopefully that will be enough to make it shine...we really don't want to go the replating route unless we just have to. We have one more wall to rip out before we can start the build-up of the new kitchen. We're doing all the work ourselves, so we're shooting to have the whole thing done by the end of the summer, just in time for baking season.

Thanks Treatmaker and happycamper...we'll be tearing into the rebuild by the end of the month, hopefully, if some more "life" doesn't get in the way!

"life" has a way of doing that, doesn't it? Ahhh well, it's still the best game in town!
