Greetings!
How difficult would it be to install a B model {ridged black top, 2 lights/timer; no pilot} high back splash {silverlight?} on a 61 C? If possible, can the folding cover be used also? Thank you

I suppose it's possible, but what all you'd have to do is unknown. It would have to be the top & back of a B or BZ. A model C's top isn't dead flat like the B & BZ. The model C's top has a small curve upward at the back that's meet to blend into the back, & then a space where the back rests. The model C vents the oven up through the back & onto the cook-top. I'd think all the gas lines would have to be rerouted, because they aren't the same. It's an interesting project. Bellow is a quote about a model B-15 that was made to be flush with the countertop. Most model Bs vent the oven out through the rear. The 15-B vents up through the back, so bellow, they had to make a custom adapter plate.
I've got these pics of a model B that would have vented up through the back, but this one has had the back remove to make it flush mounted with the cabinets. They've made a perforated grill where the back would have been. There's even a little heat shield behind the griddle. It's OK to do adaptations as long as they're done properly & safely. The one above is a very clean & professional customization.

The differences are significant, so it would be a major project. The C series requires a special insulated back in order to go against the wall and earlier stove need to be spaced away from the wall. The earlier stoves have a folding top, so the stove top would need to be changed or a square hole made for the folding top linkage and I don't know whether you could find a way to make the hinges work.. If you wanted to try changing to an old style top you'd lost the newer style thermowell since they're not interchangeable. It's not impossible by any means but there would be a lot of changes. We went with a BZ because we liked that style and were pretty sure we'd be happy with the earlier style Thermowell (and we are). The one thing we found was that the folding top restricts the size of pot that can be used on the back burner and with a 4 year old great-granddaughter often under foot we like to keep stuff from the front of the stove much of the time. It's not uncommon when you see earlier stoves for sale to see the top leaning against the stove but not installed and I suspect that's the reason why on many of them.
