What I've kind of picked up from the Proboards marketing site is that we need to make more posts here and **we need to establish more links from other pages TO this site.** Bottom line: if we want a chance to have more people actually find us and keep our forum going, we need to all make an effort to get our group out there more. Ways to help do this: 1) Please post links to our page anywhere that you think it seems fitting - in your blogs, on your own Facebook pages, on Youtube, on Pinterest... in short, post a link to us anywhere that you like to "hang out" online and are able to do so. Tell people why you like the stoves and maybe what you like here. Let's see if we can bring our little corner of Chambers Stove world back out into the light a bit. 2) Make more posts here, even if you don't think many people will see it. No activity just leads to... fewer people seeing the value in what we do here. Introduce yourself, post a photo of your stove, your stove in pieces as it's being restored, your kitchens, pots and pans that you use. Post a new recipe. It doesn't matter if you have done so before. We need to breathe some new life into our group. 3) Please search this site's URL in Google, Bing, Yahoo periodically. chamberscommune.proboards.com

I posted a link in my Facebook timeline with a pretty stove photo. I also made it "public."

I'll do that. I think the "search" really helps.

I don't have too much of a social media presence beyond this, but I can do "searches". Does it matter if you search from the same device each time or should it be from different ones?

I've really been worried about this site since the Facebook Chambers sites have gotten so popular. There's a lot of good discussion on there but it's not organized and searchable. This was the first site I found and it was a gold mine. There was a lot of discussion on using the stoves, recipes and stuff like that and it really energized me to find a stove, restore it, and get it installed so that I could try it all out. The Facebook pages are okay but I've quit responding to a lot of the questions because it's often the same thing over and over. That's not the fault of the people asking by any means. It's a fault of the Facebook platform. Here people generally sign up, take the time to familiarize and then ask about what they can't find. That's what I did and there was so much more that I found. I've recommended both sites several times and hope that it has helped. A lot of good info is being lost on Facebook with their instant gratification approach. I'll sure do searches on all the popular search engines and anything else that will help.

I wish one could put a link in on the Wikipedia page? It mentions the two forums.

I search everytime I come on now. What do you type in your search engine and what will the proper result be called?

chambers commune forum searchor chambers forum commune chambers forum commune. Take note on the last search that the commune is mentioned in another site TheHungryOnion just a few entries down. That's probably a good one to use. : )) I do wonder who the writer was on the forums as I don't remember a Jammie, although she and another commenter used dugbug for restorations. Perhaps one of us with facebook or something should sign on and comment linking back to the chambers commune site. that would help drive traffic here. The stove's weight in this article is about 200lbs too heavy, btw.

When I type in "chambers commune forum" I get a lot of chamber of commerces, things with commune in them and things with forum in them, but nothing related to this particular forum. If I type in "chambers stove forum," like I would if I had just gotten interested in them and wanted to learn more I get Todd's site, and the rangers forum(among other things...) but nothing on this forum. Finding it must have been easy at one time because I found it, and I stink at this kind of thing!

Are you using google? Did you go to the site I linked? As I wondered before, I think it was the chambers.net website that is now disappeared that drove most of the traffic to this site. That is how I found it. The free literature was easy to find and then the forum was right at the top of the page.

I use Duck Duck Go. I don't know if it's really so, but they promise not to track you, and I like to think it's true! When you look at the bottom of the home page where it has the stats, you see that there are people visiting the site...
I just went to check and it said in the past 24 hours there were 7 members and 61 guests, so whoever those guests are, they must be finding it somehow. I wonder why they're not posting any questions, though.

That's interesting. Maybe they don't stay signed in? Hmmmm. I always go to the recently updated threads so never check who's signed in anymore. Interesting. I'll try DDG and see what I get. I usually use private browsing.

Chuckie, you turned the colours around and I got all confused! : -D I wonder why they don't join?I always thought one had to join to see posts, but maybe it's just to comment. It's been too long ago.

I always thought one had to join to see posts, but maybe it's just to comment. It's been too long ago. I noticed a couple of weeks ago that when I opened the link the "Guests Must Log In" page was gone and it was set up so you could go through the posts without logging in. I'm not sure whether anyone can post though, but hopefully not. That might be a good way to post a denial of service bot or something similar, depending on the protections Proboards has in place. I think it's great that people can review the site though. Really great. Hopefully they'll see the benefit of signing up and posting so that future owners, service technicians, and others can benefit from what they experienced, otherwise we lose valuable info and experience. I've used Duck Duck Go for years as my default search engine and it has been great but have spent days trying to get it to show Chambers Commune in the results and have totally struck out. I sent requests last Friday to the main site that feeds their data searches and haven't heard anything yet so will wait a couple of days and bug them again.

Whew! I'm always sorta glad to find out that something that happens is not merely a sign of my own incompetence. Maybe Duck Duck Go just has a blind spot when it comes to us...🤔

I don't know what happened to make this thing kick me out if I don't show enough activity. I just put together a post with several photos and related narrative and when I hit the "Post" button the thing gave a weird message that something was wrong. I scrolled to the top and I was logged out! If this site is going to keep us from posting a detailed technical post then it isn't going to be where people are going to put their info and that's obviously not good.
I was going to do the post here and link to it on Facebook. Looks like I'll have to just post it on Facebook. I'd say that's a lost opportunity to bring people here.

She is a moderator or the like, but CAN'T do any "major" changes, as she's NOT one of the owners! I just wanna keep our wee humble little site up & running was MY only goal!!! I S-O-O-O-O appreciate what chipper has done to see to that as best she is allowed---keep it up, chipper!! CHEERS! Chuckie
