My daughter had us over for the Memorial Day unofficial start of summer cookout. All she wanted me to bring was a side dish and some whipping cream. Thinking on my feet, having about 8 quarts of green beans still in the freezer and the next green bean season breathing down my neck, I decided on this. I took 2 quarts out of the freezer and let them thaw a bit, while I sliced some onions and mushrooms very thin and turned the oven on to 500. I tossed everything with olive oil, salt and pepper, dried savory and some garlic powder, and spread it out on a big baking sheet, probably two layers thick, maybe three in spots. I put it in the oven, let it roast at 500(or wherever the oven was at that point) for about 15 minutes and then an hour with the gas turned off. Delish! Like green bean casserole without the heavy cream sauce, although the argument can be made that that is the best part. But this is better for the warm weather, I think.

That sounds delicious. I bet we could do a smaller portion in the Twell. I'll have to remember the dried savory.
