Hi all! I am a new old stove lover. I posted this thread on another page, but copied it here in case this was a better fit for it. I just discovered the Chambers stove this past weekend. After replacing 4 dishwashers in 13 years, I am fed up with new appliances. I saw a photo in a magazine of a vintage Magic Chef which started me on my search for an old stove. I have read about several brands (Chambers, O'Keefe and Merritt, Wedgewood) and keep coming back to the Chambers. I was concerned about just having one oven, but it sounds like the Thermowell acts like a crockpot, and then there is the broiler for vegetables, etc. It sounds like this little stove will do it all. Since you are all on this forum, I'm sure you agree. So I am in the market for a Chambers. We are planning to start building a house in the fall so I have time to search. Do you all have any recommendations for model or what I should be on the lookout for? Right now I am leaning toward the 90C just because I like the high backsplash. What price should I expect to pay? I have a lot of reading to do on this forum, too, since I just found it yesterday. Thank you!

After considering a really nice a model, I went with a model c (highback) for two big reasons: availability of parts, and the thermo well. It is all what you like, how much you want to spend, and available "stock." Best of luck in your search.

Welcome, 5talents!!! I'm a C owner, myself, and for the same reasons you mentioned. As kellyjo40 mentioned, what you will pay depends on a lot of factors, including what's available locally or your tolerance for driving.
Just for reference, my own a white 90C cost me $400 locally about 2 years ago, and is in beautiful shape. She's not pristine, but she gets compliments all the time, and her porcelain is nearly perfect. I have two other stoves that are not currently in service, both C models, in pastel colors with similar quality porcelain, that cost me more in the neighborhood of $600 each. They were hours away from my home, bought through eBay quite a few years ago now. I also have a parts stove.
Look around for a while to get a feel for the market. I'd pay more for a beautiful local stove that I could see in person, than one I had to drive a long ways for and buy sight unseen.
