I ran across this video the other night while searching around things about Shelbyville, IN. Apparently the Shelby Arts Fest had people playing local prominent, famous & infamous people buried in this cemetery. They stand next to the gravestone of the person they're playing. This one is of John Chambers. He give a few details about his life & a kinda muddy explanation of how he developed the stove. At the end, he also mentions the address of his & his daughters houses at 217 & 221 W. Broadway, Shelbyville, IN 46176. Chuckie posted about these houses some time ago, but he never gave the location.

I'd like to get a list of locations that pertain to Mr. Chamber & his factories. In one source I've read it mentions; "The operation began in one of the old Conrey, Waller, DePrez storerooms (later part of Monte Glove) & in 1913 built a foundry on East Jackson Street (later used by the Shelbyville Manufacturing Company). In 1916, Chambers moved its plant into the building vacated by the Clark Motor Car Co. The plant in it's last location on South Miller Street and St. Joe produced gas ranges which "cooked with the gas turned off"."
I know where the factory they mentioned last was. It was torn down & something else is there now. I now know John & Almas's address is & have pics of the houses that Chuckie posted. I'd like to figure out where the "Conrey, Waller, DePrez storerooms" & the "foundry on East Jackson Street" were, so if I'm ever in Shelbyville, I have a few addresses to make a pilgrimage to. I also need to find out where John & Alma are buried too. Think of it as a Chambers stove lovers sightseeing list of spots to hit if you're ever passing through Shelbyville. I'd also like to check out The Grover Museum, 52 West Broadway, Shelbyville, IN 46176 to see what they've got. Maybe one day I can donate some of my material to them because it their local history.
