The title of this thread says it all. I happened upon this blog post of a lovely ivory colored model A. The lady says she made her family save her grandmothers stove for 40 years until she could get it restored. It starts out pretty rough, but ends up very nice. It looks like they didn't overdo the exterior redo. It still shows some wear. Note the topcoat of the porcelain is worn down to the black undercoat around the broiler handle at the left end. Ah, My Proud Beauty - it's still good.blog

What a wonderful story! I'm glad it ended up back in service. It must bring up lots of good memories every time she uses it.

Great story. I think it's my favourite colour, too, Pooka It's so snazzy with the black top. It really was an incremental progression from the Bs to later models. This looks so similar to my B, but with a few tweeks.

I'm partial because it's so close to my simpler model 7141. On it, the top is smooth like the Imperials, without the four ridges, that the model A has. It gives it a more serine appearance. There are fewer patterns competing for your attention. The black, ivory & deep green are all natural & soothing colors. There's a capable plainness to my stove. The only flashy thing on it when it was new, was the nickel plated griddle, the Thermowell lid & the chrome rim of the thermostat dial (& the touch of chrome on the thumb latches). It also has three high speed Imperial grates rather than the one disc simmer grate in the back, & two doughnut simmer grates in the front that were standard on this model. It gives the top a uniformity that I like. And the dainty legs give it a lightness that belie it's four hundred plus pound weight.

It looks like her most recent post was in April, so it might take her a bit to notice. But she needs to join the madness!

By clicking on her name, I noticed she has another blog with her weekly menus. She seems to update this weekly if not daily. Maybe a message there this would get to her sooner. tarnationsmenus.blogspot.com/

From looking at her past postings, she must have other priority's that have caused her to cut way back on her activity. She peaked at 107 posts in 2010 down to only the one this year. Life has a way of distracting us from one thing & another.
This Chambers thing takes up far more of my time that I should let it, but it's the one thing that I have found that I can make a contribution that will live on after me. I have never sot any recognition in life, but only to be of service to others in a way that my talents will allow. I've done more writing about Chambers stoves than all my collected writing from the rest of my life. Between this site & Todd's, I've got 1894 posts. That just boggles my mind. I would have never thought I had it in me.

Good going, lwagne! I also alerted her to it via her menu blog...just in case she doesn't get notified of new comments automatically. I hope she pops on over.
