Seems all prior members were deleted from the search option after the "upgrade"!!! Can anyone find any older posts through a search? I can't even find my name.

Yep... not working correctly with the new board. Tried simple searches and got "No posts were found" for words I know were posted relating to Pre-A Chambers stoves

Yeah...only [pst written by those who joined AFTER the "upgrade" are searchable. At least they didn't ERASE the old ones. (And I just realized I could show 100 posts per page.) Haven't found THAT function on "the other" board.

So, has there been any change in this? I still can't search for any old posts. I feel bad that I'm asking the same old questions, but I can't search for the old answers.

No Jenn. I don't think the folks that maintain this site visit very often. I did discover that when searching under "members", I don't come up, but if I go to my name, click it and then go to recent threads or posts they do come up. I'll have to see if I can then search further from there.
Of course, that's only useful if it's a post I remember contributing to or creating. And a lot more work than just searching under the topic.

It is a serious bummer, not to be able to search our archives. It really diminishes the utility of all the good information we've accumulated here over the years, and it's a massive loss for us and future users.
Sadly, I also think that we've been kind of abandoned to our own devices here in Chambers land. I thought that FatFutures had designated a second in command with some types of administrative powers when this group was established, but I have no idea who that person might be.

I agree Jenn. The info isn't necessarily dupicated on the other site. the recipe section is particularly awesome and I know at least one person who only posts here. The associated site actually went down last year and I was in a panic!!! there was some back and forth with some "old-timers". Maybe I can find that info again.
Btw, I ran across some of your old posts. You must be OVER THE MOON to finally have one up and running. A dream come true, I suspect.

You probably know more than one person who only posts here. I'm one of them, as well, and for a very specific reason. At least some of us are officially banned from the other site. I'm not sure that there are many of us early Commune adopters still here, but there are some, and I surely wasn't the only one who met with TW's ire.
The Commune was born out of conflict on the other site about what group members should be able to discuss. That progressed to the point that posts were being redacted by the site owner for the mention of things we weren't supposed to talk about. Of course, who actually knew what fell into that category?! I know that mentioning other appliance brand names was a faux pas. I'm not sure I even remember what caused the final blowup between the original founders here and TW, but they were fed up and left. I had the gall to suggest that people should be able to be members of both sites (perish the thought!!!), and in return my post to that effect was erased, and I was banished for life. A reminder to all who think TW is a benevolent leader.
I missed a lot of the people over there, especially at first, but I surely don't miss the commander in chief. I know people are members of both sites now, but at the beginning, it was a no-no. The other site is off-limits for me, even if I did want to check it out, which I don't. I wish that the split had never happened, but things are as they are.
But anyway, enough of that old nonsense.
It's true, I am extremely happy to finally, finally have one of these amazing stoves up and running.

As a newer member, I've often wondered about that old history. Afew similar incidents have come up over there in the past year with newbies who haven't read every single post and who weren't aware of any conflict. Mainly dealing with the free downloads of info, etc. Usually I've pmed the "offender" so they could avoid any sort of reprimand. I couldn't have done my stove without this site as well and all the free lit, although I friend did give me the "official" version for the "B" and it is really easier to read and has some extra info.
For a while I didn't know who posted where due to differing handles, but the avatars were the giveaway. I have a friend here in town that only posts here. I think she thinks it's a faster way to communicate with me!!!
p.s.s I think somewhere I said to put the orifice cap down all the way with permatex, but may have forgotten to mention that's only for the fixed caps. At least I think it was you I answered.

So I just posted a help request on the pro boards support forum, asking for help with our broken search functionality. Here's hoping that we get some assistance. I saw that another forum posted with the same problem and the support staffer replied that they reindexed the forum.
Maybe they can do the same for us?

Update: I got a reply from a member of the support crew at Proboards.
We have a little bit of search functionality now, but apparently only for posts made since early February. I told them it's working a little bit better, but the majority of our archive is still not available. Hopefully they can do more for us.

That was very good of you to do that. i still can't search any "older" members. You and i don't even come up even if i'm searching for a recent post. I'm just scrolling through old post to find things now. it works, unless there's some hidden gem not mentioned in the post's title. You know, when they get hijacked or include a recipe. thanks for trying...maybe they'll continue to fix this.

I've been out of town for about a week. I just checked the support board, and they report that some search terms seems to work, and not others. Their developers are going to be looking into the issue further, but they say it may take some time.
I hope it works...

I put up an update yesterday, but my post is gone. Very strange. Has anyone else had that problem?
So anyway, originally the search function was supposed to be repaired by yesterday. I tried a bunch of searches last night, and found that things still (obviously) aren't working. Actually the search function is worse than it was, if anything.
I'm sure that you're all pretty bored of my updates by this point, but I just wanted to let you know that I checked back in with the support group and the code warriors are still working. They're running behind their earlier estimates for completion, but they claim to still be on the job.

The whole board was a mess earlier today. It was listing posts as having no responses when I know there had been some and stuff I posted still hasn't shown up. Probably won't by now. I see a government computer system joke in here somewhere...

Well, it seems like things may be getting worse before they get better, huh?

I just searched on several things, two of them that used to give results, and each of them came back with nothing found. Is this search capability done for good?

Sadly, I feel like i've been chasing my tail on this subject since my first help request in early June. Lots of promises from the pro board support team that they are trying to get this fixed, but no changes here on the ground. Know that I am trying, though, and will continue to do so.
As of July 10th, here's the reply I got to my latest query asking if there had been any progress:
"Hi Chipperhiker,
Indeed there has! We're currently testing the fix for the search system here on the support forum, and I'm hoping we'll be able to get it out to everyone by the end of the week assuming testing goes well."
Plainly, that mark has gone by… I sent them another inquiry a few moments ago.
Does anyone know if other ProBoard Forums are having similar difficulties?

The rangers' site works fine, more or less. Sometimes I don't get any hits at all, but it may be my spelling is off on a search pararmeter or something.
