Well, these had been on the KC craiglist for QUITE some time. I think he started @$300 and they had been steadily dropping. The other day, he had them for ONE dollar. Well, I emailed him, and I'd put my cell # on the email, and forgot about it. He called me, and started the tale of what they sell for on the coasts, yadda-yadda, and then attempted to regale ME with "how the oven cooks w/the gas off", etc, and I stopped him and told him I was QUITE familiar w/them, and had restored THREE, working on #4 the Imperial--and that I LOVED them and he didn't need to sell ME on them, I was already THERE. He said "what will you give me for them?" I told him I REALLY wasn't interested, as I had enough 'in-need-of-rehab-stoves' around here now. He then told me he was DESPERATE, as the painters were to start on the garage, and they HAD to go outside and he was just gonna SCRAP them, so he says "if you'll just come by and give me $25, you can have the whole SHEBANG!--meaning the range hood too. Pretty grubby, but all there (grates/drip pans/etc out of view behind rangehood). Those parts to the left are from a parts "C" that I have. And I wound up giving him THIRTY--as I didn't have but a $10/$20--and I was not about to ask for 'change' at that price! S-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O, the collection continues to grow in the vacant house next door. And Monkey just keeps rolling her eyes watching out the window for the men in the little white coats and their butterfly nets... CHEERS! Chuckie

You are killing me over here with that copper! I'm interested to know the brand of exhaust vent. Btw, are you including "The Annex" in that collection?

wowser! I think the butterfly nets would not be strong enough, thinking to nab a chambers-a-holic like you maybe an elephant net. Cinn: ...hello, my name is Chuckie and I HAVE a problem! LOL They get me EVERY TIME with the "scrap" line-- "you know" says I, "for $30 bux, I could keep this thing from the scrap heap". Someday they'll be featuring me on America's HOARDERS or something!! Eidos: I just emailed him when the price changed to see what it WAS. Later on--I'd forgetten I emailed him--he called me and made the deal. We were going back to my foot doctor today anyway in KC-- AND I GOT PAROLED FROM MY BOOTIE & CRUTCHES!!!!!!!!!!--so I decided WTF, let's go for it! vaporvac: the rangehood was a Rangeaire I believe--don't remember at the moment. BUT if memory serves me, that was the same brand name over the Chambers copper built ins that were here in LV a coupla years ago that I did NOT get because the oven was electric. Perhaps that was some sort of 'package' Chambers put out. As for what will I DO w/them, dunno @ the moment, but in no hurry. My Mom's kitchen needs a redo and has a similar 'built in' setup, BUT she doesn't cook hardly @ all anymore, and is now 84. And my B.I.L.--who helped me unload it--his is the kitchen that the "C" Althea was supposed to go to, and he looked like HIS interest was piqued as well. Stay tuned... CHEERS! Chuckie

Glad you saved 'em, Chuckie! We have the cooktop, but no oven (yet). What I would like to do is install both on some sort of rolling cart with a propane tank to have a mobile kitchen I could use outside. I might have to hire people to actually move it around for me, but I think it could be cool.

That is a cool idea Kari, put some heavy duty wheels on it, and bam! extra stove for the holidays, or cooking outside!

Life would certainly much less interesting without at least a few of us harmless certifiable lunatic hoarders. Where would the rest of us find some of our priceless treasures.

Have you restored many copper stoves? I just purchased a copper chambers two days ago and I am excited to start working on it but nervous about damaging the stove. Mine has a TON of grease on it...literally caked on....any ideas on what works good to clean the copper without damaging it? Thanks!
