I can really only work on the stove about 2 hours a night. Tonight I wanted to get it taken apart. I managed to get the stove cover off. I looked at the model B service manual but the explanation on how to remove the sides just didn't seem to work.
I removed the back square head nuts and attempted to just slide the side panel down like the manual said. It feels like the side is connected to the front somehow.
I was so overwhelmed with trying to read the manual and figure out where to start that I just sprayed the thermowell and broiler down with DPD and locked the garage.
Where the heck do you start on taking this darn thing apart so it can get a good cleaning?

The front edge of the side panel has a tab edge that slips under the front panel. now that you've removed the back square head nuts you should be able to slide it down slightly, then swing the back edge outward & slip the front edge out from under the front panel.

Ok thank you. That will be tomorrows first on the list. I will say I am extremely excited how well the broiler and thermowell are peeking through all that gunk.

Sorry, Newbie here. Just delivered our newly purchased B-model to our living room this past weekend. We're starting to take it apart on Saturday. What is DPD? Wikipedia provides many interpretations.

Welcome JT!! And cinnabar is correct--DPD is THEE MAN for cleaning up old grease & grime! I never use rubber gloves, but it DOES dry the devil outta your hands when you use it w/o them!! And we ARE a visual bunch, in that we L-O-V-E pix!!! So feel free to post copious amounts!! And any more questions you may have, ask away. Most of us have "been there, done that" so that helps YOU from making the same mistakes!! CHEERS! Chuckie

Take a lot of photos while you are taking it apart - the more the better. It will make things easier months from now when you are putting it back together.
The old saying when trying to accomplish a large difficult project: "How do you eat an elephant by yourself? It is easy - do it one bit at a time"
