Fatfutures hasn't been here in forever.
Tux-sf is also missing these days, and he's always been in charge of the Vintage Chambers site.
I hope that all is well with them. Does anyone know what's going on and if we're really on our own?
I'm especially concerned about the Vintage Chambers site. I think that our group has a lot of old materials that we'd like to share with other members in a format that can provide permanent access. For instance, I just bought a new 1906 Lisk ad that I'd love to share. Putting it somewhere else on the net is OK, but I think everyone would be better served if everything remains in a central location.

I see falcon has been on in the last 24 hours; he may have some access to the controls on here, as I believe he helped set up the original site--but I could be wrong... CHEERS! Chuckie

I don't know anything about the folks involved, but a couple of week ago the site was down, as in domain name available! It was a horrifying thought since I don't keep hard copies of stuff and hadn't really downloaded anything. Someone told me that that was probably because they hadn't paid their dues for the domain name. Someone did finally pay and get it back up so somewhere, someone kept tabs. Maybe they'll come forward. Pretty please:)

I have some old instruction manuals, catalogs & an old 1912 ad that I have scanned & posted on my photobucket page, but I wish I could get PDF's of them put up on the Literature & How-Tos page at www.vintagechambers.com.

So it seems that I'm not the only one wishing that we could continue to update the Vintage Chambers site.
Without anyone at the helm, that site seems pretty vulnerable. It would be a terrible loss for the community if that site goes down.
This one is a part of a larger system, so seems OK.
Does anyone have a way to contact either Danny or Michelle off site? (tux_sf or Fatfutures) I tried a few months ago through this site's messaging system, but to no avail...

I've emailed tux too, chipper; will let you know if I get a response... CHEERS! Chuckie

LOL, okay, I got a reply back from Falcon (Shannon). If you're "unhep" like me, you'll have to go to urban dictionary to translate!! LOL Word up home skillets! I see Danny and Michelle on Facebook all the time, I'll shoot them a message and see what we can get.
I host the website, so I have full access to that. I do not host the forums, Michelle would have to hook someone else up with Admin priv's to dilly dally that skizzy yo.
The site had a few outages due to some technical difficulties, but the club doesn't pay my for hosting... I do that for free The name does need to be paid, and it's in someones name (maybe mine). When I have a min I'll fry that bacon for you.
I hope you're well my stove loving friend, I was really looking forward to the Post-Turkey Day Chambers Rally, but you disappeared on us for a bit.
Hit me back homie.
Shannon
Basically he said he'd get in touch w/Danny & Michelle, & let them know of the recent difficulties/questions. Hopefully they will be soon resolved... CHEERS! Chuckie

Thanks, Chuckie. You're a nice home skillet for sorting that out.

ROFL... I get a little carried away sometimes The domain name is owned by Danny (Tux), and is paid through March of 2014. I host the website, which is free (and sorry about a few technical problems recently, long story best saved for chat night). I've hit Danny and Michele on Facebook and await their replies... but I see them on there almost every other day or so. We prolly need to get FatFutures to elevate a few other peeps to be Moderators or Admins I check in pretty frequently... and stop by chat night when I remember, but often it's too late in the evening and I've missed everyone. I still own the house my Chambers is in, but it's now a rental and I'm stuck cooking on a modern propane stove. My wife and I both miss our Chambers WOOT!

Glad you've got an "in" for us, falcon. I'm wondering if you could pass along to Danny that I'd be more than happy to lend a hand with the Vintage Chambers site if he needs an assistant. Even to help upload some of the stuff everyone would like to share. (ads, literature, etc.)
It seems that a little redundancy might be a good thing all around.
Thanks!

Tux-sf offered this option via email. this a.m. IF anyone is capable enough to handle what he describes, his email is in his profile if you want to contact him & offer your services:
If there is someone who would like to redo the website, it could really use it. I haven't even been able to work myself up to adding scans--& I do have some things to add there--so it would be really great if someone with the expertise would refresh it. It is currently just static HTML & it would be really good if we could get the content in a CMS so it could be maintained in a more reasonable way.
S-o-o-o-o-o, if there are any "techno-geeks" out there who want to avail themselves, here ya go!!

I'd definitely love to help, but I wouldn't know the difference between the two if it bit me. : (
Anything a non-techie could do?

I ran my own websites for years and I can do it but.... my plate is full until I get the cabin restoration done (& my Chambers stove). Late next winter maybe but I have a lot of work to be done first.
Is the site set up with HTML or done with one of the new website programs?

Ron, maybe you could email Danny, and find out about the tech details.
As I mentioned before, true computer savvy is not part of my skill set, but I am certainly functional enough that I could find a way to help to get tasks accomplished.
