OK, downloaded Java again. Closed all the way out of the browser, re-opened, and still didn't get into chat. Fatfutures, does any hiccup reveal itself in the administrative corners of the computer? Thanks!

Chat room problem - SecurityException – application error Why does chat require user to run “sandbox app” that is unsigned and source is unknown? This was not required until earlier this year and I have not been on chat after this started. – unable to use chat because of this.
I will not down load programs (or apps) to my computer from unknown source and/or does not “signed” security cert. Ron

Wish I could help here, we got java working, but I disable it when not in chat . ( Check security settings and restarted the browser) Sometimes I get goofy pop ups but in the end it works.

I will not down load programs (or apps) to my computer from unknown source and/or does not “signed” security cert. Ron I wouldn't let the signed/unsigned be the deciding factor. There is a huge amount of signed malware out there. In fact, there is some security benefit to NOT signing them. Forcing them into the sandbox is better than letting them run with privs. www.cert.org/blogs/certcc/2013/04/dont_sign_that_applet.htmlNow: I do understand refusing Java entirely...
