That's fun to have! I'm curious about the one made from raisins and caraway seeds - it sounds like an interesting combination.

My grandfather probably never entered the kitchen except to eat, but this thread reminded me of one of his habits. During the summer, when we were little, we would go berry picking. While we ate as much as we gathered, grandpa held back. His little bucket of blueberries, sometimes raspberries or blackberries would steadily grow. At home, we would all share our berries with mom and grandma who baked them into pies, blini... whatever took their fancy. Grandpa put most of his into a half empty bottle of vodka. When the berries filled pushed the level up to the brim he would seal the bottle, put it on a shelf and say, "When the snows come, I'll have a taste of summer." And he did. One taste. When he passed, at least a dozen near full bottles of heady aromatic vodka were divvied up among we cousins.
