This range was in the basement of my house when I moved in. The previous owner asked us to pay him $800 for it, but we said no thanks. He left it anyway. It is still connected to the gas and apparently works well. It is dirty and has a bit of rust on some chrome parts, but is otherwise in fine shape. I also found the instruction manual. Can someone tell me what I have here and how to get more information? I would like to get it cleaned up and working. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Reg

It's an oldie. Late 1920's-1930's kschick, tux_sf some help here. That emblem on the front is like the Dream Stove and Eleanor's not like Lady's. Looks ready to cook too. Is there a thermodome? Sorry, the thermodome is large round, heavy cover that would go over the rear left burner the retain the heat. The chrome may actually be nickle, but hard to tell. What shape is the oven in? Welcome to the commune. cinn

Glad to have you aboard... I had a 1922 bungalow once and that stove would have been perfect.

Congrats on your beautiful range, and welcome to the mania! Once you figure out how to put dinner in that range, warm it up, and whack the gas off while you go out and play for the day; only to come home to a warm meal ready to eat and not dried out; you'll fall right in love with it.

Welcome, Nice stove! good to see of the pre a models. There should be a name plate on the frame under the burners, I cant really see from your pics, this would have numbers model & serial on it please post them. Cinnabar is the real pro in this area. I'm just following her lead. This appears to be amazing example of a 1927 3241WL. Does that sound knowledgeable? Thanks to tux he uploads the literature at : www.vintagechambers.com/This stove is featured at page 40 or so of the 1927 Idle hour cook book. It would be great if you could get the instructions to him for scans! A great addition. Cinn and I have albums at photobucket that you can link to underneath this post Cinn's web album is at the link under all her posts. There is also a lot going on at chamberscommune.proboards61.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=maintenance&thread=1201809264&page=1 with a similar stove.

Thanks, the metal tag on the front of the range has the following numbers: 40990 and 2241. I didn't see any letters there.

Welcome Reggie
As one member put it, it is nice to see pre-A Chambers. Kudos to all the owners knowing what a real Chambers "jewel" they have. Nothing cooks like a Chambers!! ;D ;D

Missed it by that much, you have a 2241, 2000 series, 2=style of stove, 4 = # of stove burners, came with 1 thermodome. W would have meant white, and L = Left side oven, it is not uncommon to not find letters. That code deciphering comes from help provieded by the 1930 circa chambers catalog # 306 also on the literature page.

Hello, everyone. I am new here. This is my first post in fact. So, is the stove in the picture in fact a Chambers? And I see a thermo well was mentioned, if so, I don't see it on the stove. Would someone be so kind as to maybe straighten me out on this? Thank you.

Welcome, A Twell is a on Chambers made after the 1930 and A,B,C models have them. Check the liturature [ftp]http://www.vintagechambers.com/[/ftp] The well allows you the option of cooking with retained heat on the stovetop, not just in the oven. The stove at the top of this thread is what is commonly called a Pre A. These stoves generally had Thermodomes, the precurser to the T-well. The insulated dome was lowered over the burner to hold in the heat and allow you to 'cook with the gas turned off' CWTGTO . This stove is a 2000 series, I have a 3000. TDomes are not always on the stove, as the have been misplaced, removed or damaged over the years. Hope this helps some. cinn

Thank you for the response. If I understand you correctly, this stove is a Chambers, but without the built in Thermwell, which was added to the later models? Thanks again.
