It started when we bought ourselves an old farmhouse a couple months ago and undertook a long remodel journey. Our scheme to avoid buying new things led us to Chambers stoves, and we searched craigslist until we found this beautiful one in GREAT shape... We just love it, and haven't even cooked with it yet! (It is still slightly disassembled from the move in this photo.) We’re thinking of a name. Next thing you know we’re scouring the web for more information (and the seduction of accessories) and find ourselves driving 4 hours to pick this up because it was only $50 on ebay and it has its own salt and pepper shakers… Check out the groovy knobs... sigh. What were we thinking? We have only one kitchen. This second one is beautiful in a completely-different-model kind of way. I can’t stand the idea of disassembling it, but won’t part with it either. But I see from looking around on this forum that we’re not the only ones that collect preposterously heavy things to keep in out buildings. I see folks here with similar spirits, so hi everyone. According to chambersstoves.net, it seems that the first stove we bought was a model A. But I haven't seen the other stove described anywhere - can anyone tell me what kind it is? I think that it seems like a B, since it has chrome handles and a backsplash. Am I right on either count?

..."preposterously heavy things to keep in outbuildings"...ah, sounds like us...you might be in the right place.
Your stoves look great...that "A" is pristine! And I believe that your "second" is indeed, an early "B".
Welcome to the Nuthouse!

Welcome!
You have 2 fine looking stoves. After you start to cook on them (which one are you going to use???) you'll wonder why people decide to get rid of them. They are truly amazing stoves.
Welcome again!

Marebeth, the first stove you brought home was a lowback B model. The second one, with the divided front panel, groovy printed thumb latches, art deco legs, and salt and pepper shakers is an A model.
Congratulations on both of your finds, and WELCOME!!! (I'm another of those collectors of preposterously heavy items. Three of 'em. With only two stoves, you can still claim that you're still keeping it to a dull roar. If you come home with a C, well, then...
