OMGosh! I have one of those too, minus the box. I always thought it was for making pancakes and have used it to meter waffle batter. Mine doesn't have the cut red top though.

How did the pancake thing work out? It seems like it would work for that. Here are the recipes and instructions from the box if you can read them. I took them with my camera and had to use the flash so took them at an angle to reduce glare from the flash. I'll scan and repost them as soon as I get my scanner plugged back in to the network (just did a hardware upgrade) but maybe these will do in the meantime.

It worked really well, just not sure if it's any better than pouring from the bowl I mix it in for pancakes and even waffles. I have used it to make little indian dumplings and it's really good for that because they're small and it's hard to pour that amount. It's MUCH neater that using a ladle, I will say.

I've never made donuts. I just never wanted to deal with that much hot fat, although I've had home made donuts and Dunkin and Krispy ought to hang their heads in shame.
I can tell you Mach12 that if you ever enjoyed using a Play Doh Fun Factory as a child, you will LOVE using your cookie press.

It takes surprisingly little fat (or oil) and you can reuse it. I do mine in a Cast Iron frying pan since it helps with reseasoning. Kind of a touch-up anyway. When the oil cools I just filter it through a paper towel into an old plastic peanut butter jar and then put it in the refrigerator, or freeze it if I don't anticipate using it for awhile. Our deep fryer that has been sitting all cleaned up and empty in a box out in a cabinet in the garage for years since I started using my CI pans instead. I do four donuts at a time in a #8.
I remember my mom making cookies with her "cookie gun". My favorite was a kind of a butter cookie that she dropped a dab of homemade raspberry jam in the center. Not sure of all the details on ingredients and so on but my sister will know so I'll have to pick her brain.
Here are a couple of pics I took and posted on a Facebook site when I was explaining how I deep fry to touch up the seasoning:
