Thanks, these are good things to know!! I'd hate to start making people sick because I was holding the food at 100F!!
We JUST bought a green C today - I am so excited!. Looked pretty dirty in the pics, but it's just surface. The drip pans came so clean with soap and water, they looked new from the store. Don't have the stove yet, supposed to be delivered tomorrow. Just in case, I took every loose part off and brought it home with me, including the sides ;D I guess I've caught the fever - I've been finding pots like crazy - look in EVERY corner of those antique stores. i've never left anything in the oven overnight, but we don't have an automatic pilot light (safety?) so i'm sure that the oven would be pretty cool.......in the thermowell, i've made oatmeal and with the standing pilot light it stays about 160 degrees.......

160F - perfect!! The safety numbers are store it at below 40 or heat it at above 140F. The little germs that hurt you can's grow at these numbers.

On the well on our "B", there is like a 'hook' thing back by the rear vent (C's don't have a back vent I don't think). Anyhow, that's where I hooked a thermometer to check temps on things. You could do that when you get your C; if no hook thing in the back, suspend an oven thermometer by a thin wire about 1/2 way down, put the lid on, and check it later. If the pilot is not holding it as hot as you'd like, you can always up the pilot a bit... And CONGRATS on the green C purchase! Guess this means you won't be coming by to buy one of mine! Chuckie

Come on by!!! There were NINE of us siblings (8 living) and hence only like THIRTY-FOUR in our 'immediate' families--you probably won't even be NOTICED!!! Just bring an extra spud or two to throw in the pot, and a bottle of vino will get you a place @ the head table!

Just a heads up on this thread. I pulled out recipes that had been posted within this thread and any replies that seemed to make sense to tag along with them. I apologize that this remaining thread is kind of stripped out and may not make a lot of sense.
